| Cables, adapters, gender changers, and more for your home and office computer and network systems |
Hallmark ‘the cable place’ has often been proclaimed to be “the most unique computer supply store in Albuquerque”. While there are plenty of stores that sell pre-made computers, motherboards, processors, and the rest, there is only one store that stocks a full range of computer cables, adapters, converters, gender-changers, and all those little things that keep computers connected. Locally owned by a native Albuquerque resident, who is in the store every day from open to close, Hallmark 'the cable place' has a friendly staff that is eager to help customers get exactly what they need, whether it’s a common connector or a custom cable.
Hallmark 'the cable place' also carries the cables and connectors for the Home Entertainment system: HDMI cables for High-Def televisions; Digital Audio cables for surround sound systems; RCA cables for Audio/Video; and S-Video cables for computer to Television connection. The line between the computer and the television has blurred recently, and Hallmark 'the cable place' is here to allow you to take full advantage of the capabilities of your system.

| Hallmark “the CARD place?” NO, Hallmark the CABLE place! |
In 1988, when computers were still a novelty in the home and workplace, Herb Hoffman, retired movie producer/director, and his wife Betty owned some buildings in Albuquerque, NM that they were leasing to small businesses. One of these businesses involved selling floppy discs. The proprietor of this particular business skipped town owing Herb three months back rent. The business owner left his inventory in the building he had been leasing. Hoping to recoup his losses, Herb continued to sell the floppy discs. People started to ask him if he could get this or that cable, and he soon realized that he had tapped into an opportunity for a new business.
Twenty years later, computers have become a part of everyday life, and Hallmark ‘the cable place’ is still supplying customers with the cables, adapters, gender changers, switch-boxes, and all the things they need to keep their computers connected.
Have the cables changed over the years? Indeed they have! Most notably, the monitor cables have changed, because the monitors have evolved. From the old 14” and 15” monochrome of the early days to the 22” and 42” LCDs of today, the monitor cables have gotten stronger with better shielding and a plethora of different connectors: VGA to VGA cables, the old standard, are today quadruple-shielded for the strongest signal throughput available; VGA to DVI cables have become quite popular for those with older video cards and newer monitors; DVI to DVI cables for those with newer video cards that have the DVI port to the DVI monitors; DVI to HDMI cables to go from the computer’s video card to the new HD televisions; and HDMI to HDMI cables for HD TV and HD capable computers and video cards. Let us not forget the S-Video cables that allow laptops and some desktops to connect to televisions with an S-Video input. Network cables have also changed over the years: from the old Category 3, which isn’t even in use anymore, to the lightening-fast Category 6 Gigabit cables, networking has become faster and easier than ever. We carry Cat 5e cables for the 10/100 MBPS networks, from 1 foot to 100 foot lengths, at prices that CRUSH the competition! For high-speed networks we carry the Cat 6 Gigabit cables (also from 1 foot to 100 foot) that have a blazing fast 1000 MBPS for large file transfers and video over network. We also carry the network switches to hook all the computers into to complete your home or office network.
USB has grown in popularity and use. Printers, scanners, cameras, and a host of other peripherals have gone to the USB standard. We carry the full range of USB cables: USB A/B cables; USB Amale/Afemale extension cables; USB A/A male cables; and USB A/Mini cables; all the commiserate adapters; and the converters that allow you to use older Parallel and Serial devices in the USB port.
There is so much more that we carry, it would take pages to list everything. Please call us if you have any questions or don’t see what you are looking for on our web site: our toll-free number is 888-266-7515; our local number is 265-5801.
