The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine at Albany Memorial Hospital
Statistics show that five million Americans suffer from chronic wounds caused by diabetes, circulatory and other problems. And, patients with diabetes have a 15-fold increase in the risk of amputation.

Since studies have shown that specialized wound care treatment facilities significantly increase healing rates and reduce amputation rates, Albany Memorial Hospital offers state-of-the-art outpatient wound services at The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine on the hospital’s second floor. The highly-specialized staff utilizes a variety of clinical treatments, debridement, medicine, dressings and support services that have proven highly effective in facilitating the healing process.

Approximately 20 percent of the wound care patients may be candidates for hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), a treatment in which the patient breathes 100 percent oxygen while being enclosed in a pressurized chamber at greater-than-normal atmospheric pressure. Albany Memorial’s center is the only one in the immediate Capital Region to have a hyperbaric chamber for HBOT.

The center is in partnership with Diversified Clinical Services, a national company that manages 43 wound care centers across the country.
