After her parents immigrated from Lithuania as result of world war II, Dr. Rasa Buntinas MD was born in Chicago, Illinois. She completed her undergraduate studies in chemistry and philosophy at Loyola University of Chicago where she graduated summa cum laude. She then completed medical school at the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University of Chicago where she graduated first in her class.

During her third year of medical school, Dr. Buntinas was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha which is a medical society honoring those students in the top 10%. Dr. Buntinas then completed her residency training at the University of Iowa in Internal Medicine (1993-1996) and then completed a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology (1996-2000). From 1998 to 2000, she conducted laboratory based cancer research.

After completing her training, Dr. Buntinas then served as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Hematology, Oncology & Blood and Marrow Transplantion in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa until the Summer of 2005. While interested in all cancers, Dr. Buntinas takes special interest in treating breast cancer. Dr. Buntinas is board certified/board eligible in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology and Hematology.

Dr. Warren and Dr. Buntinas met during residency and were married in 1998. They have three children- Audra, Aleksa and Andreas.
