Dr. Thomas Warren MD was born in DeLand, Florida and grew up in the Tampa Bay area. After completing his undergraduate studies in biology (magna cum laude) and medical school at the University of South Florida, he moved to Iowa City to complete his medical training.
At the university of Iowa, he completed a residency in Internal Medicine (1993-1996) and then completed a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology (1996-2001). In 1997 he was selected to serve a year as a Chief Medical Resident and also spent the years from 1998 to 2001 primarily in the laboratory conducting cancer research. His research focused primarily upon immune based therapy of cancer in general with a special emphasis on lymphoma and melanoma. He was named a Lymphoma Socity of America Research Fellow from 1999 to 2001.
After completing his training, Dr. Warren then served as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Hematology, Oncology & Blood and Marrow Transplantion in the Department of Internal Medicine until the Summer of 2005. Dr. Warren is board certified/board eligible in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology and Hematology. Dr. Warren and Dr. Buntinas met during residency and were married in 1998. They have three children- Audra, Aleksa and Andreas.
