Guthrie & Frey, Inc. was established in 1974 by Scott and Lynn Frey and Audrey and Robert Guthrie. Robert and Audrey were the owners of Guthrie, Inc. which is located in New Berlin and serviced the New Berlin and eastern counties since 1950. The New Berlin company is now owned and operated by Charles Guthrie. The Wales company was established to expand and serve the more western, or ”outlying” areas. Both companies install and service well pump systems (existing homes and new construction), and together offer a wide coverage area of southeastern Wisconsin.
In 1980, Scott and Lynn Frey became the sole owners of Guthrie & Frey, Inc. and expanded their service area to include all of the fast-growing western Waukesha County area, as well as Jefferson, Washington and Walworth counties. As their service area increased, so did the size of the company. Although still not a large company, Guthrie & Frey, Inc. is able to offer fast and responsive service for emergency calls, while still installing new construction jobs on a timely basis.
In 1995, Guthrie & Frey, Inc. again expanded and Scott and Lynn’s sons joined the business. In order to offer more complete service and products to their customers, water filtration products were added to their product line. As this facet of the business rapidly grew, a new company was formed just to handle the water conditioning. Guthrie & Frey Water Conditioning LLC is owned and operated by Robert Frey and his wife, Susan. Zachary Frey and his wife, Angela, are assuming ownership of the original company, Guthrie & Frey, Inc., while Scott and Lynn remain active in the operation of the business. Both companies operate at the same Wales location, and work hand in hand to provide a complete water system to their customers.
